Alltel Now Offers Enhanced Caller ID

Gagetell –By: Robert Nelson – May 23, 2007 – Alltel has become the first wireless carrier to offer Enhanced Caller ID which will give customers a little more information when it comes to those “Unavailable” calls. City ID will match the incoming number with the US city and state where it is registered, while this may not always be enough to decide whether or not to take the call it will certainly help. Personally if it says “Unavailable” I just do not answer, I go on the assumption that if they want me they can leave a message and I will return the call.

“City ID will provide our customers with additional control over the calls that they choose to answer,” said Wade McGill, senior vice president of wireless products for Alltel Wireless. “Customers frequently do not recognize an incoming phone number, and this application will provide the additional information to help users decide if they want to answer the call.”

City ID will be initially available on the LG AX275 with a 7 day free trial. More phones will follow with options for 15 day free trials, after the trial period it will be $1.99 per month.
