Ross Joins Mobile Caller ID Technology Leader
SEATTLE, WA – Mar. 11, 2008 –Cequint, Inc., the leading developer of Caller ID technology for wireless phones, today announced that Jeff Ross has been named Vice President of Products. Ross, a wireless industry veteran, joins the executive management team as the mobile market’s demand intensifies for Cequint’s Caller ID solutions including the highly successful City ID product.
Ross most recently served as the chief operating officer of 9 Squared, a Zed Group Company and top independent distributor of mobile content in the United States. Ross led business development, product management, marketing communications and other corporate functions that launched a number of large-revenue BREW, WAP/Web, handset pre-load and off-portal mobile services. Prior to joining 9 Squared, Ross led product distribution at Dwango Wireless, a leading developer and publisher of mobile entertainment content for top lifestyle brands. Previously, Ross spent nearly 10 years at QUALCOMM Incorporated serving in a number of senior marketing and product management positions including vice president of marketing and co-founder of Wireless Knowledge, a QUALCOMM-Microsoft joint venture.
“Jeff brings a wealth of product management, product marketing and business development expertise to Cequint,” said Rick Hennessey, CEO of Cequint. “Throughout his career, Jeff has introduced and managed a number of mobile products and services that have produced hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. His experience with mobile technologies, handset OEMs, infrastructure providers and carrier-grade services will enable Cequint to advance the growing demand for our products.”
City ID is a patented voice calling feature created by Cequint, Inc., the leading developer of Caller ID technology for wireless operators and mobile handset providers. City ID automatically matches any incoming phone number with the city and state where the number is registered. The application identifies incoming numbers from more than 20,000 North American cities including towns as small as 700 residents.
“While so many early stage mobile companies are attempting to create revenues streams from TV, Social Networking, Search and Advertising, Cequint is committed to improving basic calling services that haven’t been upgraded since the introduction of PCS in the late-90s,” says Jeff Ross. “While 3G and Web 2.0 mobile services are still in an early adoption stage in the United States, Cequint is introducing mobile Caller ID solutions that subscribers have wanted for years, since first becoming accustomed with enhanced landline phone services.”
